This game gives you an idea of why these brightly colored arcade racers, with their unspeakable music when first heard, shaped two generations of SEGA consoles and were among the showpieces there. First, and very simple: It’s still a lot of fun as h**l! Second, a little more complicated: It is a contemporary witness of an idiosyncratic era in gaming history, which SEGA had a decisive influence on in its very own niche.
